I remembered liking the lemon vodka. Now that I look back at the review, it only got a 2.25, so I think I remembered liking it relative to the Frïs that I had soon after the lemon vodka, and there was little comparison between the quality of the two. The Deep Eddy was flawed, but care had been taken, and someone out there likes that. The Frïs was a guy who had an idea for a brand that would hook the college kids, and they went with it.
The drink looks like lemonade. I guess, in this case, it looks like limeade, but I'm not sure there is a specific distinction between the look of the two (especially filtered). This is filtered, mostly, and there is only a gentle haze to the beverage as it sits. The aroma is strong alcohol and limes. So, it smells like what it is.
First sip is aggressive. You know how some strong beverages will toss a burn to the back of the throat that makes you wonder if you'll have a voice or be able to swallow when you're done with the drink? Well, this isn't that bad, but it puts me in mind of those unfettered concoctions (I'm looking at you Blue Flame). The lime exists, but it's flavoring on top of an unpleasant beverage.
Continued sipping results in a moderately okay beverage. Honestly, there are so many other 35% ABV beverages out there that are significantly better, I struggle to figure out why someone would go for this.
