Look who has some big shoes to fill. I've only ever had one Hoof Hearted beer before, and the $60 Nachos got an excellent rating of 4.25/5. It's going to be pretty hard to follow that up with another winner, and few breweries are able to sustain hit after hit, but I have confidence in these guys. Why? Well, because I want them to make good beer, and I can then buy and enjoy that beer. I guess it's really unsubstantiated faith, as I only have one beer to go off of, but don't yuck my yum.
The last one was reminiscent of orange juice in looks, and this one follows suit. Maybe we have another Bearded Iris entering the chat. That'd be nice. I recently went down to the Bearded Iris brewery, and I was disappointed to see that they had very few beers on tap, but that's another story for another time. The aroma is mouth-watering tart juice from grapefruits and oranges. It really smells nice, and it makes me want to drink. I'm gonna.
First sip is still very much a citrus juice experience, but it's got bitterness where tart was going to be. The flavor is really fantastic, though, as I can almost picture myself biting into a bit of grapefruit and feeling the texture of the fruit meat. This is really a sensational experience, and I need more of this kind of thing in my life. I don't know how the swig is going to go, but so far these guys have done it again.
Tip-in is immediately bitter seeds of grapefruit and orange with no carbonation feel at all, but the mouthfeel (something I normally don't bother to describe) is particularly pillowy. The middle becomes a delightful flow of fruits with a dry bread malt peeking its head out and the center is just great. The finish echoes the sip from bitterness to fruit meat, and the trail off is just a persistent desire to drink more.
