The beverage is a clear, light blackberry color. I know it seems kind of a cheat to use the name of the berry as a signifier of the color, but that's what color it is. It's kind of like saying that something's orange, and it contains oranges. Of course it's orange! It's made of oranges! This has blackberries, and it's the color of blackberries. The bubbles are that of a soda pop, so they don't stay around long. The aroma is quite heavy with blackberries to the point that I can't even make out any alcohol, but I'm sure there's some in there.
First sip is sweet and very berry. The alcohol is noticeable, but it is certainly not shoving the flavor out of the way. A slight tartness comes in toward the end of the drink to add a little complexity, and I am reminded of many of those seltzers that I had that were marginal at best. This is the flavor they should have been shooting for. This isn't overpowering, and it isn't underpowering. It's just about right for this style of beverage.
Tip-in is sweet blackberries and excessively light carbonation. The middle moves the carbonation to the roof of the mouth and turns it up, but it's still not much as the berries and sweet start to turn a bit tart as unnoticed lemons are suddenly there. The finish is another tart/sweet battle with blackberries and alcohol finally being a bit more pronounced.
Bottom Line: Simple and sweet. It's good for a relaxed evening.
