I'm still not entirely sure why I got the urge to buy this can of liquor in addition to the Old Fashioned that I tried a little while ago. I did not like that Old Fashioned very much, so I really put off trying this margarita. It may not be the can, and it may not be the company that produced it. It may just be that I don't like mixed drinks like this. I can't say that I've had all that many, as beer has filled my needs. Still, I got it, so I'm gonna review it.
As I started to pour this, it looked more like water than an actual margarita. It turns out, the lime had settled on the bottom of the can resulting in a sudden onslaught of pulp introduced into the otherwise clear beverage right at the end of the pour. This is not unusual for a beer that has been allowed to be canned unfiltered or a bottle conditioned ale or something like that, but it never occurred to me that it would happen to this little can of liquor. Turns out, it says very specifically that I should shake the can and pour over ice. However, I have rectified the ice by putting some in the glass and mixing it a bit, and it appears that shaking the can effectively has been done by just pouring it. It smells of tequila and lime. Pretty much as you would expect.First sip reminds me why I didn't like tequila. Just that simple sip transports me back to the last time I had tequila and the time before it. Those were not good memories. Tequila has a funny way of not sitting well in my stomach, and I'm not about to allow that to happen tonight. That said, the taste of the actual mixed drink isn't that bad. Once I removed the sense memory of tequila, it's not a horrible beverage. Just like Bud Light, if you mix it with some lime juice, it comes out almost drinkable. I'm not sure I'm tasting the orange curacao, or if I would even know what it's supposed to taste like. I kind of assume it's supposed to taste like orange, and I don't taste orange.
Bottom Line: I tried. This experiment has failed.
