The bottle tells me that this is supposed to be the go-to cream. "This should be in everyone's fridge!" Hopefully, they mean that because it's so good. Although, I suspect people will try anything just to get more sales. That's not the attitude I'm going in with, though. I'm expecting brilliance, and I love a good cream, so bring it on!
Sure enough, it looks like dirty cream. It is more brown than most of its contemporaries, and it is otherwise just cream. I wasn't sure if I was going to get floating brown or black bits of chocolate or something, but it's just brown. The aroma is quite heavy in alcohol. I guess 20% ABV is a bit much for most creams to conceal, so that makes sense. There is caramel and coconut with some highlights of vanilla in the scent, and it smells pretty good.First sip is sweet with quite pronounced caramel, vanilla helping a bit, and even a touch of coffee. I'm not a fan of coffee or coconut, but neither of them is doing a whole lot bad here. Bitterness seems like it is hanging around after the taste, and that is a bit unsettling after the overall sweetness of the rest of the cream.
Subsequent sips show a bit more coffee and a bit more bitterness as a little warmth gets into the otherwise chilled cream. I'm not thinking it is the better for it. It's not so overwhelming that it's bad, but it's more than it needs to have, in my opinion. I'm still going to finish the bottle, but I'm not getting another one.
Bottom Line: Not the worst sipping cream, but nowhere near the best.
