Another Irish cream for me to try! I like Bailey's, and I really liked the Jackson Morgan take on the idea of a sweet and potent cream-based liquor. The last try for an Irish cream was from Saint Brendan, and it was very good, but it couldn't topple the reigning king. This has a very Irish look to it, and it may write a depressing poem about overthrowing the monarchy.
First sip is a cure for what ails you. It has the expected cream smoothness and sweetness, but the alcohol is more present and, while being more forward than Bailey's, it is actually more relaxed. It's a strange mix of announcing the alcohol yet doing it quietly. I'm liking it so far, but I don't think I'll know until the end of the glass if I like it better than its countryman.
As the drink wears on, it is sweeter than the others, and that's not bad, but it seems like that sweetness is how they are trying to mask the overtness of the whiskey. I know very little about whiskeys, but this one seems to be more coarse than the others, and it is barely hiding under the sweetness and cream.
Bottom Line: Different, but it's not better.
