How much rum have I had? Well, more than I would expect, but it's almost always as part of a cocktail or something. I am not really a hard liquor kind of guy (aside from that tasty BBQ whiskey that I have revisited many times). The first rum review was done by my buddy Will, but that was, unfortunately, his only contribution to this endeavor.
Looks like pretty much any brown liquor. The aroma is... I'm not used to rum in general, so I don't know if butter rum is its own thing or not, but I get the impression of quite a bit of alcohol (I'd say 35% ABV) on top of a buttery liquor. It starts to put me in mind of Fiddle Faddle's butter caramel flavoring. It's not exactly that, but it's near the ballpark, looking for a parking spot.
First sip is an oddly delayed Kentucky hug. The rum is a different thing, isn't it. It doesn't taste like whiskey, but I struggle to think of what else it might taste like. The butter in the smell isn't really all that strong, and I'm not sure what exactly they mean by "spices," but I don't know that I can pick any out.

Continued sipping is nice enough. It's a whole lot smoother and more gentle than most whiskeys or moonshines that I've had (that wasn't flavored). Not sure if I should be comparing the spiced version of rum to straight whiskey, though. Should I compare it to a flavored moonshine? Those are pretty inconsistent. This is pretty okay.
Bottom Line: Does rum get good?
