Is this nog? I am adding the label for Cream here, but it doesn't have any cream in it. It has egg yolk, though, so I think it's nog. It also has a mere 10% ABV, and that's not getting you where you're going at all. The alcohol is listed as "cane alcohol," and I don't know what that is. The real key is that I stopped caring. I thought this would be another hard cream when I picked it up, as I don't particularly like nog.
The yellow cream is pretty unremarkable. I suppose the color is the result of those egg yolks in there, simmering with the meager alcohol. It's noticeably thicker than the hard creams that I enjoy, and it really makes me think that this is going to be a nog experience. The aroma is pretty basic cream. I tried to smell egg, but I really don't. I don't even smell the alcohol.
First sip taste pretty good. It is sweet and creamy, and it tastes nothing like nog. It is very sweet. I mean it. I understand why these things are normally used as mixers, as I can't imagine wanting to sit down to a glass of this like I might with a sipping cream. The thing that is really putting me off is the thickness. It's so thick that it makes me want to stop writing this review and toss the whole bottle. I don't know who wants a beverage you can stick a spoon in, and it stands up (this side of a milkshake, maybe).
Subsequent sips confirm that I don't want this, despite its pretty good taste. The eggs come out a lot more as I drink, and the thickness is just something I can't get past.
