I was told about the Eggo moonshine by several people since it came out, and I figured I would add it to the list. When I went to the store, it wasn't in stock, but something so... odd wouldn't be most places, right? So I asked the friendly guy to order one for me. When I picked it up, I didn't even look at the label past the big Eggo logo. It wasn't until I got it home that I noticed that this is eggnog. I think I had nog once before.
The sucker pours like a thick cream, but that's not really the noteworthy thing about it. The smell is quite potent, and it smells of both the nog (that strange mix of eggs, milk, and sugar) and a more potent alcohol than I have ever associated with nog before. The moonshine brings this up to a tidy 20% ABV, and that will... get you where you're going. It slices through the egg pretty quickly, so there is that acetone bite even in the smell.First sip is lots of alcohol burn accompanied by the nog, but the nog isn't up to the task. Even if it was, I'm not sure that nog is a particularly good beverage to start with. As a result, the beverage is tolerable without being particularly good. I think the only reason this is noteworthy is that it has a big brand name slapped on it.
Bottom Line: Sippin' cream can be so good, why would you go for this?
