Well, it's not light in color, and that is honestly a great thing. I know there are a lot of full lagers that are light in color and taste great, but adding color (and hopefully, flavor) to an actually low-calorie lager is even better. You have to try to make this thing stand out, and it looks like that's what they're doing. The head simmers down to a reasonable dusting across the top of the beer with the ring on the sides, and lagers don't usually leave much lacing, so I'm not surprised there isn't any. The aroma is very sweet corn malt.
First sip is relatively bland, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. The two ways these beers seem to go is either too much carbonation with pretend hop flavor to the point that they are really trying to impress you or the other way, which is a watered-down mess. This would never be considered overbearing, but it's not like someone grabbed a real beer, added 50% more water and called it a day.
Tip-in is sweet corn malt with some trace of banana going on that adds nice fruitiness while staying mostly on brand. The middle picks up with the malt turning a bit more like bread while carbonation sizzles the roof of the mouth. The finish is stronger in flavor than the rest, and the corn sweetness meets remaining banana, carbonation, and a sparkle of yeast.
Bottom Line: Absolutely passes for a regular beer, and that's more than any other low-calorie beer I can think of.
