Johny Bootlegger. Look, I live in Tennessee. The only state that has a better claim to bootleggers is probably North Carolina, and I would ask to see the numbers. I can tell you that I wouldn't think of the word Bootlegger and think... hey! That's a Canadian thing! Well, Johny Bootlegger doesn't just misspell Johnny, it also made him Canadian. Does this Canadian liquor magnate make good stuff?
It looks like really watery lemonade. I suppose I could have said that before I even poured any into the glass. It doesn't smell like lemonade, though. It smells more like lemon flavored moonshine. I would call it moonshine, but it doesn't have enough alcohol in it, and it specifically calls itself out as a malt beverage. Is it going to be less aggressive than a moonshine and still more potent than a Mike's? Let's see.
Here's the thing - this is normally the first sip paragraph. But this is a shot. I found myself wondering if this should be in a shot glass, and I should shoot it like a shot. I will clearly not be doing a long pull of the beverage like I do with a beer, but maybe a shot is the right way to do it. Well, I sipped. And the sip was fine. It is kind of dull lemonade that is watery and has an alcohol kick. The problem is that none of the flavors are particularly good or bad - they're just there, and then they move on. I guess that's a shot.

First shot is very similar to the sip. the difference, I think is the wateriness of the middle. It gets more watery with a shot, but the sweet lemon lingers on the tongue for a lot longer than you might expect. The alcohol isn't intruding at all, and there are lots of hard lemonades that could probably take notice about the simple balance. For the next few bottles I have to review, I think I may go straight for the shot.
