I would normally say I don't know what to expect from something like this, but I am absolutely expecting this to be grape soda with alcohol in it. There are others, like the Sex on the Beach that I have coming up, that I don't even know what kind of alcohol is added to give them the "adult" push, but this is inevitably going to be a nondescript malt beverage of some kind.
Well, that is pretty much grape soda, isn't it? Once again, my instincts prove me right with no one here for me to regale with tales of my prodigious prognosticatory intuitions. So, I will just say that this didn't have any head, but it does have carbonation, and it smells like artificial grape (just like grape soda, so there). I will admit to some alcohol more than peeking out - maybe it's glaring out from under the fake grape.
First sip is a grape soda with alcohol added to it. The alcohol doesn't seem to be improving anything - I kind of like grape soda, and I think I may prefer a regular one to this, but the 10% ABV is really the reason people are drinking this, right? I mean, if you wanted something that embraced the alcohol (rather than just coexisted with it) you'd get a good beer.
Tip-in is sickly sweet grape and overabundant alcohol. The middle is just not good. I don't know what they did with the grape soda, but it's gone, and the sickly sweet remnants are not dealing with the vaguely repulsive malt alcohol. The finish is not really an improvement, aside from the fact that it's over.
Bottom Line: They took a good thing and made it significantly worse.
