The first Frïs vodka was not good. Here's the thing, though: I'm not sure any vodka is good, at this point. Maybe the beverages I've had that were vodka-based that I liked were just overcoming the inherent bad flavor of vodka before managing to be tolerable. Imagine the efforts necessary to make something actually great, at that point.
I am tempted to go and read a review of a vodka that someone who knows something about vodka has written. I wonder what the right way to say, "This is clear. Clear like vodka," is. Well, this is not unusual. The aroma is noteworthy peach atop a significant alcohol. The aroma can cover quite a distance.
First sip is peachy alcohol. Is it good? Well, it's not bad. The sweet peach covers the sting of the alcohol, and the Kentucky hug is delayed for... some reason. The alcohol is delayed, too, but not as much. It's odd - like a car with a really long hood - the peach enters the picture way before the passenger compartment, and I think the lines of this particular car are working pretty well.
Continuing to sip, I find that the beverage is perfectly pleasing. It's not really something I would go to that often, but I could see sitting down one evening and slowly sipping this absolutely contently. It'll do, when I don't have a good beer.
