I'm going to leave the Ireland tag on this, even though this is actually a product of Kentucky. It says on the label that it uses imported Irish whiskey, but it only states that the cream is "fresh," so I assume it's from Kentucky. Really, this is the kind of thing where I likely worry too much about what I should or shouldn't tag, as I'm pretty sure I'm the only one who ever uses those things. Also, this is the second try at this beverage. The first one came in a huge bottle and was curdled. I didn't review it.
It's the usual color - cream with some caramel or chocolate mixed in to darken it and weepers are really not significantly different from regular cream. The kind that you get in whiskey are decidedly different, but this gives no indication that whiskey is involved. Well, no indication until you give it a good whiff. Whiskey sits atop cream with hints of vanilla and possibly chocolate or caramel.
First sip is very nice. It's sweet and creamy, but these things are absolutely expected with a hard cream. The slight caramel really moves this up the scale, and it brandishes the whiskey with a subtlety that I can really respect. As this is a cream, I won't be gulping this, and I will sip all night. That actually makes me want to get a bigger glass, so I can just keep on trucking with it. The sweetness is cut by the whiskey in a way that the alcohol covers the sweet to prevent cloying.
Bottom Line: Kentucky Ireland done right.
