I don't know why there is an "e" in here. Maybe we're looking at someone over at Mill Creek having a name that includes the extra "e" but I have no way of knowing it. Is it written on the can? Possibly, but I'm not doing homework to understand the name of a beer. That's not my job. My job is to drink beer and describe it to the literally dozens of Chinese bots and big tech AI crawlers that are busy crawling my site.
The beer is dark. It's really dark. I know I often joke about how some beers claim to be black, but they are actually red or ruby or brown or something. This thing is so dark I can't really detect the color. The head goes away pretty quick, and that is typical for a beverage that has had some kind of heavier alcohol added to it. The aroma is vaguely brown liquor with dark fruits and a noticeable alcohol that shouldn't be this pronounced at only 6.2% ABV.
First sip has a whole lot more wood than the beverage should probably be exhibiting. It's dry, and the dark fruits from the nose aren't materializing. The result is a tame and hollow beverage that really gives the impression that it will be watery in a gulp. This isn't what I want from a Scotch Ale! But maybe there are wonders hidden in the depths of a gulp. Let's see.
Tip-in is dry, but mahogany mixes with molasses and raisins. The middle is awash with brown sugar and molasses as there is sweetness and no hint of dryness. The finish is dry and tending towards bitter. As it gets a bit of warmth into it, coffee becomes very pronounced.
