Some would argue that the big downside to all of these delicious, delicious creams is the exorbitant number of calories the cream component has. Well, this exists to knock 40% off of the calories of a regular 2.5 fluid ounce serving of Baileys. Now, it's been knocked down to a measly 139 cal, and you can feel free to drink all of the 2.5 fluid ounce servings that you want. Assuming, of course, that you have that number of calories to spend. How many calories should you have from delicious liqueurs? I have no idea. You have to make your own choices in life. I can't make them all for you.
The cream is lighter in color than it sibling, and I don't think I should be surprised about that. The viscosity of the cream also seems to be a little less than average. The color is that off-white that you would absolutely expect from this kind of beverage, though. The aroma is deliciously creamy with alcohol right at the tip, and it is pretty clear is going to taste very similar to regular Baileys. That is certainly a good thing.
First sip is slightly more whiskey-heavy than it is cream-heavy. I wonder if that's how they managed to do this. With the reduction in alcohol as well, it makes me wonder if they are cutting the cream with milk or even water. The whiskey mixes well with the chocolate and vanilla, and the creaminess of the beverage is still certainly good enough. Is this is good as regular Baileys? No. Does it need to be? Probably not. It needs to be very good, and it is.
Bottom Line: Not the blemish on the reputation as it might have become.
