After the relative success that was the triple IPA of Humongous Huma, I am expecting the double IPA version to be just as good - if not better. The fact that they decided to call it hazy means pretty much nothing to me. The strange artistic nature of the background on the can is cute and kind of cool, but I would prefer that they bothered to include what the ABV of the beverage was on the can itself. I still argue that there should be a nutrition facts label on beers to give the basics: type of hops, type of malts, yeast strain, calories, and ABV. Maybe there's some other things I'm forgetting, but this is the minimum.
It hazy. It's orange. It has tiny little bubbles that are kinda sticky and leave a little bit of lacing. The aroma seems slightly dank and slightly medicinal, but under that is a thick malt and what seems to be tropical fruits. I don't know what it is about this beer right now, but I don't find particularly inviting. It might be the dankness. It might not be. Something is putting me off.First sip is ... off. Whatever was in the aroma that was putting me off, well, it's here in the sip. Don't know if it's the kind of malt that they used, or if it's that vague dankness in the background, but the taste just isn't very good. This is nothing like the sibling that I had. I'm really not sure what I should do about it. I guess I'll go for the regular swig.
Tip-in is mild carbonation tingle with sweet (but somehow off) malt and a slurry of fruits. The middle becomes a dry mix of fruits and peels. The finish turns bitter and dank and completely uninspired.
Bottom Line: I don't know how they produce this alongside it's siblings.
