I'm not sure how into these special flavors Baileys is going to get, but I feel like I'm likely to try all of them. Baileys is such a good place to start, and adding delicious, sweet flavors to it seem like they will only increase my enjoyment of it. I can't say I am a massive fan of s'mores in general, but I have had a few beers that claimed to be flavored as s'mores, and I certainly like all of the constituent components. So, let's see what the Irish take on s'mores is.
The light tan cream presents just the way every other cream does, and I'm not going to go and it any further than that. The aroma seems significantly stronger than other kinds of Baileys, and the alcohol is quite noticeable at a whiff. I smell a lot of chocolate sitting on top of the creamy vanilla, and I think I may even be able to smell graham crackers. It smells very good, but the alcohol seems to be giving me the impression of a clinical environment. It reminds me of the antiseptic smell of a hospital. I'm not exactly sure why.First sip is good, but the strange mix of flavors is not really meshing as well as I had hoped. The attempt at toasted marshmallow seems to be the thing that is making the beverage a little bland. I'm sure the graham crackers aren't helping, but I'm not sure what is dragging the beverage down to the mystifyingly low category of this possibly being rated as an average beverage. This isn't as good as it siblings.
Subsequent sips confirm my initial reservations about this beverage. Maybe if I put some ice in it? There are several suggested recipes to use this as a mixer on the side of the bottle, but one of them is to pour it into a glass and put a marshmallow on it. Maybe it would be good to add to coffee, if you're into that kind of thing, and they suggest adding it to hot chocolate. I guess it's bland enough to add to whatever.
Bottom Line: I think this might be the first disappointing Baileys.
