Another cream? Yes, another cream. I don't need you to be all judgmental about my drinking choices! I realize this is supposed to be a beer blog, and it seems like the top of the charts (recently) have been all but dominated by my strange affinity for these creams, but in my defense, many of them are damn good. Are they all? No. Should I keep trying them? Yes. Is asking myself questions and answering them a good and intriguing way of writing? Not really.
There isn't much to say about how these things look. They look like cream. Admittedly, they look like cream that is a little too brown, but that's the way it works. The aroma is vague liquor under cream and chocolate, but the chocolate puts me in mind of the mock-chocolate (mocklate) that they had on an episode of Friends.Fist sip is sweet, slightly smoky, and very decidedly not chocolate. The alcohol is not particularly strong, and that makes sense with the relatively low 17.5% ABV. Unfortunately, that means this doesn't really have anything substantive following it up. It's too sweet, it's not smooth, it's not chocolate, and it's not great.
Subsequent sips reinforce the initial impressions. This doesn't inspire, isn't inspired, and I don't think this is working. I mean - it's better than your average bad beer, but it doesn't seem like it's doing what it wants to do.
Bottom Line: Too bland to be bad or good.
