As far as liquor goes, most of the kinds that I've had to review on this blog turn out to of been some kind of cream. There is, of course, Baileys and their entire lineup, and then I had a stint of Jackson Morgan creams that were very good and included one that was banana pudding. Only one cream has claimed to be sipping cream, and I still don't know if that's actually its own thing. Either way, I didn't particularly care for that one as I did the Baileys and a bunch of others. I've only had one moonshine from this distillery in Tennessee before, and I generally liked it. Let's get them moving in the right direction.
As with all of these, there's not much to say about the color. It is browner than regular cream, but in every other respect that I can see, it acts just like cream. The aroma is spectacularly banana pudding. Even with a gun to my head, I'm not sure I can tell the difference between this aroma and actually waving a banana pudding under my nose. This smells delicious, and I totally want to drink the whole thing right now.First sip shows me where the alcohol is. It's not attacking or anything like that, but the alcohol bite and subsequent warmth adds significantly to the sweet, creamy drink. Vanilla and banana are intertwined in a lovely dance that starts to make me wonder why every beverage isn't this good. Maybe it has just been a long time since I had a good hard cream that it is knocking me back with how impressive it is straight out of the jar.
Really, the only downside to the beverage is that initial alcohol bite. The rest of the beverage seems to go down very nicely, and the flavors are very well-crafted. The texture is great, the aroma is great, the presentation is great, but there doesn't seem to be any hiding of the alcohol. I notice that this is 20% ABV and not 15% ABV like the Jackson Morgan drink was, and maybe this would have benefited from slightly less alcohol. I get it, though; alcohol is kind of the reason that you drink this beverage, but I think it needs to pull back just a little.
Bottom Line: An easy way to soothe a rough day.
