Oskar Blues and I have a drawn-out history. One beer in 2015. It was great. Next beer in 2016. It was good. One beer in 2019. It was a return to greatness. What will we get this time around, and why does it seem like there is such a lull between different beers? Well, the first question will be answered in this review, but I genuinely don't know what the deal is with how infrequently I come across their beers. It looks like that may change soon.
First sip is that thick, doughy bread malt with light lemons, and it is thirst quenching and quite enjoyable. The heft is just about right, and the flavor is tame yet solid. I could absolutely enjoy sipping this beer all night, and maybe that's what I'll do with the next one. This one, however, gets the full gulp treatment.
Tip-in is floury, doughy bread with light lemon spritz - no carbonation doing anything. The middle is a sudden uptick of carbonation with the dough migrating to the back of the mouth while spices and lemons meet in the middle. The finish is where the un-commented on sweetness hits a bit of bitterness and the bread becomes more crusty.
Bottom Line: Very nice, indeed.
