I remember talking to my uncle about an article that stated that a particular brewer was distressed that they couldn't get any momentum behind a particular beer. Let's say they produced an
IPA called "
Homestyle" or something. Well, people would try it and like it, but then they were off to a new experience, and the sales would dry up until a new beer with a new name was introduced. I wonder if
Bearded Iris has this problem.

The familiar orange beer is thick with fibers and love. There isn't a lot of head to go with, and it doesn't leave lacing, so the ring of bubbles around the sides of the glass and the light dusting scattered about the top of the beer is all we're getting. The aroma is significant, and it drips with orange, tangerine, grapefruit, and a daunting tartness that almost feels like a powder.
First sip is good, but the turn is a bit too much. But, it's too much what? Tartness? Well, yes. Bitterness? Again, yes. What else? It's like a... DANK! It's a dank that I'm getting here, and I was definitely not expecting it. Now that I put a name to it, it all falls into place. I wonder how the swig will go with me knowing this.
Tip-in is tartness, oranges, tangerines, and grains with mild carbonation sting. The middle is the mix of fruits with carbonation ringing loudly and the dank is kept at bay, but it can only stay back for so long. The finish is where the dank comes up with the tartness and bitterness to ruin what wasn't all that great of a beer in the first place.
Bottom Line: I have a suggestion - try a different recipe.
