This was a modification of the
mini beer recipe that I thought of independently of the fact that other people had apparently already thought of it. So, I'm going to claim that I'm the inventor. This is, of course, completely incorrect. But, my idea was that while heavy cream might be a good substitute for a head,
Irish Cream would certainly be an improvement. I'm pretty sure it will improve anything.
The look of this beer is only a little bit different than the regular mini beer. Pretty much the only difference is the fact that the head is now light tan instead of white. This does seem to alter the overall aesthetic pretty significantly. This really doesn't look like even the cartoon of a beer that the cream helped out with at this point. Really, it's only the shot glass that is still making this look like a beer. No beer this pale would ever have a head this tan. But, once again we've used Licor 43 as our base and then gently put some Irish cream on top. No sip is going to happen. That's just fine by me. Really, that's less work that I have to do writing this all out.
That is pretty delicious. The normal sweetness of the Licor 43 is really enhanced by the sweetness and chocolate nature of the Irish cream. The vanilla that I'm led to understand exists in the off-the-shelf Licor 43 is really brought forward with the Bailey's. The alcohol is still pretty prevalent in the shot, but somehow the Bailey's is even more creamy than the actual cream. And everything goes down very smoothly. It's all quite sweet, but the addition of the citrus makes it taste like an alcoholic citrus smoothie mixed with vanilla and chocolate ice cream.
Bottom Line: Better than the original.
