Tailgate has both a Wizard's Order and Trees line. I have avoided both of them, fearing that one or both might be dank. As there is no clear indication on the cans, in the taprooms, or in the excessive emails I get from them which is the one I need to avoid, I just steered clear of both. Well, this said it was juicy, so I was willing to take the risk. It may have been a mistake.
The mostly orange beer produces quite a bit of head. It took me two gentle pours to get the picture at the bottom of the review. This isn't the worst giant-headed offender, but you really need to reel it in, guys. The head leaves quite a bit of lacing in its wake, so I can't stay mad at them. The aroma is strikingly biting. It has very acidic fruits up front, and tangerine and grapefruit are really sending up warning flares that bitterness is inbound.
The tangerine is really mixed in there with the grapefruit. There are other flavors running in to shout and jump up and down, but this is only a sip, so I can't tell you much about them. I can absolutely tell you that berries are picking up the trailing end, and this seems way too complicated for its own good at the moment. I want a juicy beer. Why isn't this the one I want?
Tip-in is tangerine and peach mixing with grapefruit. The middle comes with an amazingly dull and watery center that dumbfounds me. The finish is where limes and berries jump up to shove bitterness into the existing mix of fruits for a very unbalanced trail off.
