I picked this up from the local beer store because it looked different. I then saw it at the local grocery store, so I guess this may just show up everywhere. I don't know what a grape fizz ale is. It says that it was brewed with grapes and other stuff, and it was colored using fruits and veggies, so I can't wait to see what strange color we wind up with when I open it. I really hope this doesn't suck.
It smells mostly like grape, but not entirely. I was not sure what to expect, but I poured and just said to myself, "Oh, so it's a hard grape soda. I have had those before! They aren't usually too bad." I mean, it is purple, and the head is slightly purple, so I didn't need to worry that they added onion to it or something. But the smell is off. It's like someone added celery and rutabaga juice to the mix. I hope this is better than it smells.
First sip is not good. It has lime, grape, a flat malt, and floral hops intruding in a strange way. The more odd thing is that the sip, with all its flavors and flaws, is really watery. I usually have to get into the middle of the swig before I find the watery part of a beer, but here I am finding it in a sip. And that's probably not doing the sip any favors.

Tip-in is grape and ... farts? The middle rolls with, honesty, a revolting mouthfeel and flavor combo. The finish is bitterness and vegetables, berries, and fruits.
