Oh, whiskey. You're always going to look like whiskey. So, it's pretty light brown, if that helps at all. The aroma is brown sugar, whiskey, and I think there is some cinnamon and maple in there. It smells pretty good, and I would like a strong drink after today's long day at work.
First sip brings the Kentucky hug, cinnamon, and heavy brown sugar. It all rides atop the bourbon. Again, I don't really know my bourbon from my non-bourbon whiskey, but the taste of the beverage is nice and soothing. I'll admit - the cinnamon might be a bit much. It seems like it's overpowering the brown sugar, but I expect that's by design. Maybe the brown sugar wasn't enough to dramatically change the beverage... or maybe it changed it too much.
Continuing to sip, I don't know if it's the cinnamon or the 30% ABV that is causing the heat at the back of the throat that doesn't result in more Kentucky hugs, but it seems like it's too much. The easy, peaceful nature of the sweet brown sugar should mellow the beverage out, but the other components seem to be working in the opposite directions.
