I know I say it during many of these reviews, but I found myself at the store, looking at this label, and not knowing if I had already tried this cream. It turns out, I have had a Sugarlands peanut butter moonshine, but I have never had the sippin' cream. Technically, the moonshine was peanut butter and jelly, but I would call it close enough. As this was one of the small bottles that the store had sitting on a display case, I figured I could run the risk of this being a type of beverage that I had already done a review of. Few and far between are the sippin' creams that I do not enjoy, so I figured it was pretty safe.
It pours like a cream, and it is if anything, slightly runnier than most of the other creams I recall having. It is a little browner then straight cream, but that only makes it a little tan. The aroma is peanuts. There's alcohol hiding behind it, but the main thrust is peanuts. I'm not even saying that it's peanut butter, as I can almost distinctly smell the dry shells on the peanut. I suppose "Peanut Cream" doesn't really have the same ring to it as Peanut Butter Cream.
First sip is, expectedly, smooth. The peanut butter isn't really strong upfront, so there is a nice, smooth cream flavor that has, once again, the almost hidden taste of alcohol in it. However, the peanut butter really settles in after the beverage is gone from the mouth, and it is quite good. It's not particularly strong, as if I had just taken a mouthful of peanut butter, but it's more than just walking through a restaurant where there peanuts on the floor.
Continuing to drink it, the peanut butter asserts itself a lot more and earlier in the process. I don't know why the first sip was so dull on the peanut butter, but it seems like the cumulative effect is not insignificant. As a result, the delightful peanut butter is still not too thick, so the enjoyment of the beverage can continue in its creaminess. It's not too sweet, but it's probably better for a nightcap then for starting off the night. Once again, I don't know if these things are used in mixers or not, but I suppose it would probably be good for those.
