I expected a seltzer to be all... seltzer. It's not the color or texture apple juice, and it's not tea, so I don't know of a beverage to really compare it to. If this were a beer, I would complain that my tropical IPA doesn't have any head. I feared that the smell would be overly dank, but it's actually a kind of nice apple. It's not overwhelming, and I appreciate the subtle and laid back nature of the aroma. This might be really nice.
First sip is very strange, but I guess my experience is more beer-centric than this. The seltzer is there with bubbles and a general wateriness that could be mistaken for thirst quenching, and the apple is there with green tea. Tartness and sweetness are both in here, but they give in to dryness a bit. A dry seltzer seems like an oxymoron.
Tip-in is a delightful spiced apple tea with light carbonation - like, really, this is solid flavor. The middle becomes a prickling at the roof of the mouth while the tea becomes quite muted in the center of the mouth. The finish brings in botanicals and holds them close to apples for the trail off.
