Okay, I'm posting this out of order. I don't know that it matters to anyone, and I don't know that it will do anything good for this beverage. These have been stinkers across the board so far, and this one doesn't seem likely to change the trend. Green apple is yummy, but I am fully expecting the bad sweetener to rear its ugly head.
That's a goofy green. It looks like the liquid that you would start with to make lime Jell-O. Like the others, this isn't carbonated. Would carbonation have helped? Well, we may never know, but I don't think it would work well inside that box. The Jolly Rancher sour apple smell comes off this pretty well, but it's not covering the alcohol at all. I guess it depends on what you're looking for, but I can get a good and sublime beer over 11.1% ABV that has very little unnecessary alcohol intrusion into the flavor.
First sip is very different than most of the other beverages I usually review. It is sweet, sour, apple, alcohol, and artificial sweetener aftertaste - in that order. I'm not opposed to sour apple flavor, but I really think the artificial sweetener in these things needs to be jettisoned. Even if they have to go with corn syrup, they need to fix that aftertaste.
Subsequent sips are bad. The beverage starts to turn into a cough syrup that is apple flavored, and then there is an aftertaste. This is not what an enjoyable beverage tastes like.
