A little while ago, I did a review of a limoncello. I liked it quite a bit. It was the first time I had ever had a beverage quite like it, and the sweet and somehow soothing nature of it really made an impression. It made such an impression that I went out of my way to find another brand to do another review. Are they all the same (or really similar) to the point that the are indistinguishable? I'm dying to find out.
The pale yellow beverage looks like slightly watered down lemon juice with no pulp. I feel like the other one I had was a brighter yellow that was (possibly) a bit more neon than this one. This is relatively sedate in its yellowness. The aroma is the same Lemonheads candy, but I can definitely smell alcohol under there; as it's not masking the alcohol very much, and I'm not sure if it's supposed to.First sip is more aggressive than I want. It has the vague Lemonhead taste, but there is a dryness and tartness on the back end that feels distinctly out of place. The alcohol is somewhat subdued (for a 28% beverage) but it's still kind of in-your-face with it all. The benefit of the unmolested alcohol is that it sends the warm glow straight down to my belly at the very first sip, and I like that sensation a lot.
Subsequent sips are better. Now that I know what I'm in for, I find that it is getting more smooth with every sip. I expected the opposite to be true, as I chilled this in the first place, so it loses cold every second. Nevertheless, it is a nice beverage to sip, and I'm not sorry I got a whole big bottle.
Bottom Line: Very nice, indeed.
