So far, these hard seltzers have not impressed me with their ability to replace a beer, a hard cider, a hard soda, or even a different lemonade-flavored adult beverage. I suppose I should put more emphasis on the fact that this can is only 100 calories, and I suppose that should account for something. But, bear in mind that a similarly-sized Guinness only has 25 more calories. Yes, that may be a 25% increase in calories, but it is significantly more than a 25% increase in enjoyment. At 4.2% ABV for the Guinness and 5% ABV for the seltzer, the Guinness won't get you plastered as quickly, either.
I'm convinced that there's no reason to explain how this beverage looks. It looks the same as the pineapple, and I only have one more left from this pack. I'm betting that the straight lemonade is going to look the same. The aroma, similarly, smells of the defining ingredient: watermelon with sweet lemonade on the backend. I know that the previous two Truly beverages haven't been that great, but the smell is really good. I really want this to be different.First sip is marginally better than the others. The strange aftertaste of the Stevia seems to be integrated well into the watermelon flavor. As a result, it's not as striking or annoying as it was in those other ones. Does that make it good? Not really. It just makes it less bad. I wonder if it's possible that they just added too much Stevia. What would this beverage be like if they didn't try so hard? How many more calories would it have if they just used sugar?
Tip-in is moderate carbonation with vague, watery watermelon and exiguous lemons. The middle becomes watery and nearly pointless. The finish is better than the other beverages, but the Stevia is hanging on too long, and the watermelon can only do so much.
Bottom Line: Sometimes, even the best tire on a car is flat.
