I'm not sure if there actually is something called an electric jellyfish. I've heard of electric eels, and I'm certainly familiar with jellyfish, but I don't know that the two mix particularly well. Either way, I don't think I've ever been intimidated by the logo on the can before, but skull and cross bones drinking a beer seems to imply a certain amount of implied danger that the 6.5% ABV doesn't really seem to justify. I will be sad when the cache of Texas beers runs out, but I will have enjoyed this process.
It says hazy on the can, and it is hazy out of the can. The orange beer is at least somewhat translucent in the center and yellow towards the edges. Right out of the can, it desperately wants to develop as much head as possible, and I had to pause for a bit to let the head go down before I could fill the rest of this glass. As a result of the experience, I can tell you that there will be significant lacing left on the sides from the sticky head of unusually large bubbles. The aroma is mostly tropical fruits with a vague biscuit malt underneath. Everything is going pretty well.First sip doesn't taste particularly dangerous. It's very mild at first with fruits coming on toward the end and a dryness that isn't particularly fitting. I expected the juice to be a little more refreshing toward the end, but that's not what I'm getting. Instead, it seems like there's a mild pine that hits at the beginning, and that mixes with the carbonation before the fruits come on with their dryness. There's a lack of body and sweetness overall to the beer. But, that's just a sip.
Tip-in is mild carbonation tingle with not unreasonable pine and some fruit skins. The middle becomes a gentle if not harmonious slurry of fruit skins mixed with pine while the carbonation moves to the roof of the mouth, but the pine doesn't let it settle there without needling the skin. The finish is dry with fruit pits and skins having completely taken over from the pine, and slight sweet fruit meat is left on the lips for the trail off.
Bottom Line: My description probably made it sound less pleasant than it was, but it needs to be more pleasant than it is.
