I've only had one other cream from this Irish liqueur maker, and I really liked it. This isn't too surprising, as these creams seem to be the perfect end to an evening of gulping down various other adult beverages. I do not recall seeing an unflavored version of this cream in the aisle of my local alcohol dealer, and I am now starting to wonder if they have ever tried that. Instead, we get white chocolate, and we shall see how good it is.
This is one of the creamiest looking creams I've seen yet. I guess when you're going for a white chocolate flavor, you wind up adding white to white to make... white. The aroma is alcohol-laden cream. So, the presentation is simple, but I fear that the alcohol isn't going to be adequately dealt with in this particular cream, based on the smell.First sip is better than I expected. With the white chocolate (which I'm not generally a fan of) and the scent of too much alcohol, I expected this to fall far short of the previous Merrys cream. It may not rise to the same heights, but it is sweet, smooth, and has just about the right amount of flavor. It's surprisingly good.
Subsequent sips affirm the initial observations, but the taste gets a bit overly sweet very quickly. I'm not sure how much of this I could drink at a sitting - even while sipping. It reminds me of the sweet Achilles heel that was in the Wedding Cake cream I tried but have not posted the review of yet. Don't worry - it's coming.
Bottom Line: Sweet and creamy, but there are better balances.
