This is my third Wicked Weed beer. The other two were average, and my standing opinion about such things is that an IPA is beer making on easy mode. Mind you, they aren't excessively easy to do, but hops will glaze over other errors in the beer. Basically, if you have a bad beer going, you add more hops, and no one will notice the other issues with the beer (or they won't really care).
First sip is crisp with the citrus hops seeming to win the day and bitterness swelling pretty hard. The malt seems to be doing the robust job of trying to keep down all the bitterness from these hops, and it seems like it's doing what it can. I mean, hops are going to be bitter (bitter is what one comes to expect from beer) so you don't really want to get rid of it all. If you don't like bitterness, you might want to turn to a dessert beer, but that's not what this is.
Tip-in is notable carbonation burn with citrus backed by tropical fruits. The middle sashays in with an uptick in carbonation burn with acidity joining it as the pine rises to join the other hops. The finish is where floral comes on strong, but citrus is winning the day for the overall beer, and bitterness swells up for a crisp finish.
Bottom Line: It is bold and drinkable.
