Does anyone think a beer from someone's basement is going to be better than... anywhere else? I guess something from the bathroom would necessarily be worse, but I don't think of a basement of a proper location for the creation of beer. I think the breweries I've been to have had quite a bit of plumbing in them, and they are vaguely bathroom like, so I'm going to have to come down on the bathroom side of this.
First sip is certainly fruity. The passionfruit, orange, and guava that are called out by the POG moniker are here in spades, and I'm not sure I'm into this much passionfruit. The fruit peels seem to add a weight to the beer in addition to the malt - but the malt is getting overwhelmed in the flavor - aside from cutting down the bitterness.
Tip-in is the aforementioned fruit with a moderate carbonation buzz. The middle is a fruity medley that somehow manages not to be too much, but it is solid and joyous. The finish is peels and pits with a bitter swell and then dryness.
Bottom Line: Promising but unfulfilling.
