This was another recommendation by Jeremy. I noticed this sitting on the shelf near the Baileys, and I asked if it was any good. Jeremy said that this particular flavor is by far the most popular that these guys produce, and a lot of people love it. Every now and then, I like to branch out, so I picked up a couple different flavors. I don't know anything about the company other than that they are currently based in Tennessee, and I guess that makes them local boys (or girls - what do I care?).
The beverage is somewhat darker than the Baileys that I'm familiar with, but it still has the consistency of milk. I think it would probably be easy to mistake this for very weak chocolate milk just by glancing at it. The aroma, however, is entirely caramel. There is pretty much nothing else in the scent other than that caramel, and I guess that's what we should expect from a beverage that has it right there on the label.
First sip is very nice. As you might expect from something that is a cream, this is very smooth. The caramel adds a very nice layer of sweetness, and the salt actually assert itself more than you might expect. But it's not as if this is an overly salty beverage. Instead, this is particularly easy-going. The calm nature of the drink belies the 15% ABV hidden inside is beverage. I'm really not sure I could tell for certain that this had alcohol in it other than the noticeable alcohol bite at tip-in, and a very, very subtle one on the trail off.
I don't know much about mixed drinks, so I can't say whether or not this would be particularly good with one cocktail or another, but it doesn't seem like it would detract from any mixture of alcoholic beverages that it was added to aside from the sweetness. Realistically, this is a very sweet beverage that might very well overwhelm others.
Bottom Line: A nice, sweet treat.
