Let's talk about
Saugatuck brewing. I literally know almost nothing about them. I know I had one of their beers
before, and I definitely liked it. I know that they are in
Michigan. I know that they have a decent enough logo. Aside from that, I really don't know anything about them. I can probably tell you more about
American Pale Ales, though. The unfortunate problem with this style is that they appear to be all over the place when I look back at my reviews of them. So, I don't know what I'm getting myself into.

The very hazy beer has large chunks of detritus suspended in the middle of the brew. After leaving this alone for a little bit, most of the larger chunks wind up falling to the bottom. The relatively significant head boils down to a thin layer of tiny bubbles across the top of the beer. This really started off with mostly large bubbles, and it leaves a dirty film of lacing as it goes down. This particular lacing isn't pretty - it presents more like a large smudge down the length of the class. The aroma is not particularly strong; tropical fruits and a cracker crust are there, but I really have to go deep into the glass in order to really get a full sense of the beer.
First sip is uneventful. Being an American Pale Ale, this is not really going to be in your face with a whole lot of fruits and spices. Instead, this is a relatively mellow beer that still manages to bring tropical flavor to bear. Have you ever eaten a tropical fruit? Did you ever think that it was a subtle experience? Well, if you have this beer, you may find that to be the case. This is a very easy-going beer, and I'm cool with that.
Tip-in is mango, grapefruit, breadfruit, pineapple, and even star fruit; but all of these fruits have only spritzed into the beverage, so the overarching impression is more akin to a flavored seltzer than straight juice. The middle is an elongation of the beginning, but carbonation turns up a little higher while the acidity rises. The finish is resin, grains, and bitterness trailing off into a cloud of tart and bitter dust.
Bottom Line: A perfectly fine beer to just kick back relax with.
