This is not going to be like an Irish cream. This is also not going to be like a southern cream. This is an entirely different kind of beverage. Well, I say that, but it's actually just another kind of cream. This one has no special moniker, and presumably it is not attempting to have some kind of special provenance. I'm pretty sure, unlike the other ones, this was not actually intended to be drunk alone. This is most likely just a component of some mix, but that's not the way I'm gonna review it. And I'm also not going to review it like a Ferrero Rocher, like it seems to be packaged.
It looks like someone has taken Hershey's syrup and added just a dollop of milk to it. Its viscosity is also very similar to that particular analog, and it sloshes about the glass with a slowness of a matrix action scene. The aroma is, exceedingly predictably, chocolate and alcohol. There is a bit of a nuttiness to it, but the milk chocolate and alcohol are really the things that are shining right through.
First sip doesn't taste bad, but the mouth feel is pretty horrific. It's way too thick to be drunk as a beverage like this, and I just haven't looked up what I'm supposed to mix this with. The chocolate is very heavy, the alcohol is certainly present with a lot of warmth, but it seems like the cream is what's missing. The thickness of the beverage is decidedly offputting, and the chocolate bitterness is fighting the sweetness tooth and nail. The result is a beverage that doesn't really seem like it knows what it's supposed to be doing.
Bottom Line: This has to be better as a mixer.
