Have I already done the thing where I try to find where there is an actual creek called Mill Creek in Tennessee? Well, the brewery is in Nolensville, Tennessee, so I'm just going to go ahead and assume that that's where it is. Otherwise, this really wouldn't make a lot of sense. This beer just says it's an IPA, but the small print says that it is a West Coast Inspired IPA. I don't know if this means that it's not strictly a West Coast IPA or if there's some delineation between types that I a am unfamiliar with, but I'm just gonna drink this beer.
The beer is moderately hazy and is a particularly brassy color. It doesn't put out a lot of head, and the light dusting that it leaves on top of the beer is the closest I'm going to get to having any lacing. The aroma is hop heavy with tropical and citrus fruits thrusting themselves up from the center of the beer. I was in the mood for in IPA already, and this aroma just makes me want to dive right in. Guess what I'm gonna do.
First sip is surprisingly smooth for a beer that has so many different fruits, pine, and even some floral notes. The many different flavors would seem to be incongruent, but the beer somehow manages to make the concoction taste as if it is quite harmonious. Could I sip this all day? Absolutely. Am I going to? Not on your life.
Tip-in is moderate carbonation burn with grapefruit, nectarines, and tangerines behind it. The middle increases carbonation significantly, but the flavors managed to overcome it with their mixture of tropical fruits and citrus fruits; I don't know where the flowers or the pine have gone, but I don't taste any here in the middle. The finish starts, and I find that pine! Bitterness goes hand-in-hand with it before the relatively musty trail off.
Bottom Line: An easy drinking beer with character.
