The first thing I notice is the big, lazy bubbles that pop really fast to leave a ghost of lacing and a few scattered bubbles on top; I'm kind of lucky I could get this picture in before the head was completely gone. The beer underneath it is a lovely, clear copper color with the aroma of honey and moldy bread; I'm not going to lie - the aroma is a bit funky and does not particularly entice.
First sip is better than the aroma implied, but the sip still isn't great. It appears to be sweet and balanced at the beginning, but then it just goes south very quickly. The funk and bitterness overtakes everything. Pine and flowers seem to be stronger than any fruits, and bitterness is even stronger than them. It's just not great for sipping.
Tip-in is honey sweetness with a bread backing and some ripe melons chilling in the foreground. The middle slips into a haze of bitterness over the bread (the honey is gone) and grains rise up with an increase in carbonation that I didn't even notice was there. The finish is bitter and pine with the bread turning to sourdough.
Bottom Line: Not their best effort.
