This IPA has the most brown in it that I have ever seen in an IPA. I'm used to the beers that have no clarity - even the little white chunks that are floating in the beer are somewhat normal. The off-white head is just about right, too, but the amount of brown that has been added to the orange beer is unsettling. The aroma is very much berries, mangoes, and grapefruit.First sip is more berries than anything. I think I now understand why the color turned brown - the blueberries and raspberries have warped the color in the same way they have warped the flavor. The grapefruit is trying to make things tart, but the berries are too sweet, and the mixture is just not that great. It's a bit of chaos in a glass.
Tip-in is grapefruit-stained raspberries with a tartness and sweetness that hate each other. The middle slinks in with passion fruit and mango and it is not making the the party any more swinging. The finish is even more berries that rise to meet the other fruits and they just crap all over everything.
Bottom Line: I may have been harsh, but so is this beer.
