The very hazy, orange beer has enough of a head to prove that it's putting forth minimal effort, but the head isn't really going to be its strong suit. Nevertheless, a ring of tight, small to medium bubbles grasps the sides of the glass once the head is all but gone. The aroma is grains and citrus fruits. The smell is not as acidic as these hazy ones tend to be, and that is making this particularly inviting.First sip is a very good start. From just that sip of orange, tangerine, a little citric acid, grains, and gentle resin, I would say that this is already bolting past the 3.0/5 I was imagining this would come in as. Should I just stop and accept that this will be a good sipping beer with its relatively musty, bitter finish? Maybe that finish will improve with a gulp. I have to press on like the hero this beer is for.
Tip-in is inviting citrus mix with carbonation lightly tickling while the acid is a lot heavier than it was in the sip. The middle is where the carbonation throws daggers at the tongue with the citrus is joined by bread to try and combat it through the center of the mouth. The finish is a musty mist of resin and grains before a bitter and slowly drying trail off.
Bottom Line: Should probably have stopped at a sip.
