First sip is very strong. There are beers that have little taste or are a bit watery at times, but this isn't one of those beers. There is no point that I would complain that it doesn't have enough taste going on, that's for sure. It has quite a nutty taste to it, and I wasn't really expecting that. This isn't advertised as a nut brown ale, so I didn't expect nuts - was I wrong? Apparently.
A full gulp brings a tip-in of caramel and molasses. There's a good chunk of chocolate malt right in the center that is probably the best part of the drink. The nuts hit as the finish takes over, and they bring a rough bitterness with them. It's like the beer is separated into two different drinks, and the finish is Mr. Hyde. It really kind of ruins what is not a bad beverage.
Brown ales. I know that there are good ones out there - I know it for a fact. So, I will keep looking for better ones. For now, I have the rest of this six pack to go through. I hope it gets better.
