So, they try to develop the character, but they are severely limited by the acting ability of the man playing him. He plays the character like the long-haired, scruffy-bearded version of the guy from Transformers. It doesn't matter if he's supposed to be high, scared, angry, passionate, or pretty much anything. I mean, he's just awful.
The other actors try to work around him, but it's like decorating the sides of a sink hole - you're going to wind up at the bottom pretty quick, either way. Rupert Grint (Harry Potter's red-headed friend) doesn't even try all that hard. His character is moody and withdrawn for most of the time on screen, and that's probably fine for both him and his agent.
Evan Rachel Wood is 17 shades of beautiful. She can also act, so she's got a lot going for her. Unfortunately, she can't overcome the smell of Shia's stank. The punk look they go with seems a little odd, but they were going for a strange, almost backward environment for the movie, and she rocks it.
The story continues with Shia having to deal with all the terrible men in Evan's life, and he gets punched a lot. It would be nice to see it more or even to get a chance to do it myself.
