Okay, they are a beer company (apparently Gerst has been around Nashville for a long while) that produces a few beers, and this is one of them. So, I can't give them that much of a hassle for not having a good digital presence. Maybe Yazoo has more on their site, but I can't be bothered to look 'em up.
The pour is very clear and a nice amber color - shockingly. The head dissipates quickly and leaves enough bubbles to leave the top interesting. The aroma is very light and slightly malty. I let it sit a couple minutes to see if I get that nice wafting of aroma, but I get nothing. Not surprising; I almost have to dip my nose in to just get a whiff.
I take a sip, and I'm underwhelmed. I used to drink Killian's Irish Red all the time, and I have come to expect a certain gentle caress of malt with a tiny tang of hops in my amber beers. This one has the taste of grains with a slight caramelly hint at the finish. Honestly, a sip isn't great. Let me try a proper man's swig.
It's better. It's much more smooth right in the middle of the draught. The same grain and caramel still exist, but the middle is very nice. I'd say this is an okay drinking beer, but nothing to go out of your way for. I've had Yazoo beers before, and I never thought very much of them. This is one of the better Yazoo beers, but that doesn't make it great.
