Will the second beer be the breakout hit? Well, it couldn't have been worse than the Rabbit that pooped in my mouth. That thing was so bad I can still taste it. I have since gone and looked at third party reviews, and I have no idea what the issue was. They taste something I did not. They didn't taste the horror that I did. The problem now is that I picked this up this beer in the same trip from the same store as the last one, and if a significant heat cycle or something destroyed the flavor of the last one, this one will bomb, too.
Not shockingly, a beer that says "hazy" six times on the label, this is hazy. I commented about the small chunks in the Rabbit, but this is properly small bits. You can probably still pick the bits out with the naked eye, but it's not nearly as easy to do. The yellow beer has good head retention, and lacing will definitely be enjoying me. The aroma is not immediately regretting having poured it, so that's a step in the right direction. I still can't say it smells great. The pineapple and lemon seem like they shouldn't go together. Maybe I'm wrong.
First sip proves me wrong, The citrus and tropical fruits are merging very well. The pineapple is running out front with orange and lemons trailing behind, but the whole mix is very nice. I'll admit that I was really worried this was going to be the second in a row that couldn't make it out of the bad category. Well, that fear is lifted, but I think it was distracting me. Should I go for a second sip? Oh my lord, no. My job is to swig.
Tip-in is light carbonation with a shockingly sweet pillow of pineapple and orange in what is an absolutely amazing start. The middle lets bitterness in to knock the sweetness on its butt while mango and lemons join the fruit salad for a nice, meaty middle. The finish is bitter and dry as the fruit turns to husks and show the chink in the armor of this otherwise fantastic beer.
