This bottle has some dude's signature on it. Well, it has the printing of his signature. Who is this "Master Distiller" you ask? No idea. The label is proportional to the bottle, and the bottle is small, so I'm not going to be able to decipher it. Yes, I could zoom into my picture or something, but I kind of feel like that would spoil the mystery of, I presume, Fernando Ronaldo McIntyre. Any way you look at it, I have found that bourbon is my preferred style of whiskey so far, and I look forward to seeing what Fernando made me.
I kind of feel like I should skip these descriptive paragraphs for pretty much any whiskey. I mean, they all basically look the same, and they are going to smell like wood and alcohol, right? Well, I just took a whiff, and yes, it smells like wood and alcohol. The alcohol being 45.2% makes me think they aren't just shooting for a number here. This is where they hit, and they will leave it lie there. I respect that.
First sip is pretty damn good. The Kentucky hug is something I forget comes with these (as I usually do more beer reviews) and I love it every time. The wood is mellow, and it is jumping in to calm the alcohol while it's at it. The result is a pretty nice, enjoyable whiskey. If you said, "Hey, bourbon has vanilla notes in it!" I would ask who you were and what you were doing in my home, but I wouldn't argue there were no hints of vanilla.
Continuing to enjoy the beverage, I am remind of why I prefer beer. While this is enjoyable enough, it feels like a task being completed rather than a beverage being enjoyed. I rarely get more than a light buzz from beer, and that's fine by me - I like the taste. This taste is good, for a whiskey, but I'm not going to jump up and down because it tastes so good.
