Another lemonade for me to try. It's hard to come up with a hard lemonade that can stand up to... regular lemonade. I was absolutely sure that Simply would have been the people to bring the greatest hard lemonade. I think the best one I've had so far is also the best selling one - Mike's. And even today, a glass of Mike's Hard Lemonade can't stand up against just a simple glass of Simply Lemonade (while beating the pants off of the alcoholic twin).
The smell is.... spiked lemonade. There isn't a lot more to say. I mean, it's not carbonated, so they dodged that bullet. Other than that, it looks exactly like lemonade does. I guess I would note that it doesn't have those tiny bits of pulp that you would get in most good lemonades, and it makes me wonder why they have the recommendation to shake it on the side. I wonder what would settle on the bottom.
First sip is not spectacular. It's a spiked lemonade, but it made me check the label immediately to see if this used an artificial sweetener. The fact that it doesn't use one actually raises more questions than it answers. This has filtered water, alcohol from cold-brewed sugar, lemon juice concentrate, natural flavors, cane sugar, citric acid, dipotassium phosphate, and sodium citrate. What the hell is cold-brewed sugar? Do you brew sugar? I thought it was a crystal. You grow crystals, right? I mean, I remember seeing a science experiment when I was in grade school where they were growing different crystals.
Tip-in is sweet, watery lemonade that has the distinct taste of alcohol added. The middle is nice enough, but it is quite bland. The finish is tart from the lemons and an overcast from the alcohol. I guess the alcohol was what made me think there might be an artificial sweetener before.
