I repeat myself too much in these entries, and one through line that you will find is me commenting that I am not a whiskey guy. As someone who has had as much whiskey as I have had, I should probably stop saying that, but I don't feel that I am close to an expert or even a particularly skilled whiskey drinker. I can muddle through at best, but I won't be able to tell you the difference between a whiskey, a bourbon, and a Tennessee whiskey by taste. I have read what the differences are multiple times, but it doesn't seem to click. Nevertheless, I had a Jim Beam cream before, and I liked it very much. I'm hoping I like the bourbon as much.
If you've seen whiskey, you know what Jim Beam looks like. I'm sure proper whiskey guys have a gradation for the colors that whiskey can be, and they know which colors are better than others. Maybe the color will tell me what kind of flavor I'm supposed to look for, but I'm just guessing. I can tell you that it sure does smell like whiskey. Does it have peanut dust? Does it have vanilla? I don't smell them, but you could tell me that they were there.
I am giving into a temptation that I always avoid whenever I'm dealing with beers, and I am going to look at other people's review of this whiskey. As soon as I do, I can almost taste the things that they are saying I should be tasting. For some reason, I can't pick them out on my own, as I find that the taste is a lot more nebulous than beer. They say there are hints of vanilla, peanuts, caramel, and maple syrup. There's definitely going to be oak, but that can be the same for most of these things.
Ultimately, the review is going to come down to whether or not this is any good. It tastes a lot like the Bulleit Bourbon that I remember having and liking quite a bit. I think this would benefit from being on the rocks. I had this in the refrigerator, but maybe that just isn't cold enough. As it sits, it's okay, but I'm never going to pick this as a go -o beverage.

Bottom Line: I'm sure it's fine.
