I don't really know what the story is about Yee Haw aside from the fact that they take swings, and it usually pays off. I mean, look at that impressive track record:
There are a lot of brewers out there who could never skew toward the positive so soundly. This is just a few guys in Johnson City, Tennessee, and you can't get a whole lot further East Tennessee without actually becoming North Carolina. Maybe that's the thing - they are getting help from the bevy of good breweries over there. Who knows?
It... doesn't look great. The head is flaccid and fizzles away very quickly. The pale yellow is really putting me in mind of a Budweiser. I'm not going to be getting any lacing, and I hope I'm not going to regret having picked this up at all. The aroma gives me hope with spices and lemons popping out to let me know that this might be a beer for people to drink at football games, but it doesn't have to suck to do it.
First sip is significantly better than anything from Bud. The bread basket that this creates to put the lemon and spices in is thick and chewy. It really separates itself from the other weak-looking brews that hover around the 4.2% mark. Yes, this is for sitting and watching a game with, but that doesn't mean it shouldn't be able to stand up to a chilly dog or nachos, right?
Tip-in is bread and spices over a gentle carbonation fizz. The middle becomes slightly more watery, but I would venture to say that it is crushable. The finish brings a bit of honey and spices that toss out the bread for the trail off.
